BEN and KATY COY

Katy: After 40 minutes of a yoga/pilates dvd, I am convinced my core has completely wasted away. It no longer exists.

Checking in for no other reason than a desire to be consistent! It has been a busy month, what with our move, which Ben did a really fantastic job coordinating, and me starting a new position. That's right, a year in Columbus and we pretty much get a do-over, with a new apartment and a new job for me. I am excited in many ways for the fresh start.

This past weekend, we went to my parents' house in Detroit. My cousin graduated from high school this year and we attended her open house. It was a wonderful time. We saw many friends and family members that we haven't seen in awhile, and enjoyed more than our share of amazing food. There was also karaoke, and my sister and I treated the party to a rendition of our favorite childhood classic, Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. It's not an open house until you karaoke.

I really didn't even know it but quality time with my family is just what the doctor ordered. With so much change, it's really nice to go back home, where the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I also took some photos of my nephew. And because I love him and he is the cutest nephew in the world, I will share them with you now:

thanks for making my day! it was daddy who told me you two were getting ready to sing and i was in the midst of a heart to heart with Carol. when i realized what song it was, a huge smile came to my lips. two more sentences from carol and i was telling her...you don't have my undivided attention anymore, my girls are on. we came over and promptly got lost in our little no mic duet.

one of my favorite stories that i often share when talking with others about parenthood is the one about how both of you at separate times told me your little stories about growing up and being in the backseat rocking out this song with me. i don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed by this but either way it's all good.

It was so much fun! That song is a classic.
